In the Words of Art Linkletter...

Kids say the darndest things.

And as my grandchildren, beautiful as they are, are kids... they are no different.

My two grandchildren from Colorado came for a visit, and while they were here, I decided to use some of my other artsy energies and do a bit of doodling.

Now as some of you know, I don't claim to be a Schulz or anything. But given enough time, I can draw a decent cartoon or doodle a doodle. Grandma is not without her talents.

Try telling that to a five-year-old.

My eldest granddaughter, Brianne, has more discerning tastes when it comes to art. She liked my doodles enough she wanted me to draw some for her. And of course she was so proud of my ability she thought my other grandchildren should share in the wonder.

Elise studied my doodles and gave my attempts at art a thoughtful  nod.

Ian looked at the pictures, then at me, then back at the pictures, his brows drawn like an old man's as he considered his feelings about my art. As much consideration as he gave my drawings, I expected a glowing compliment. Yeah right...

When he finally figured out what he wanted to say, he said, "Wow Grandma, you're a good tracer."

Brianne tried to explain that Grandma didn't trace it. She really draws."

Ian was not accepting that as fact. I was a good tracer and that was that.

Oh well, one wonders what he'd say if he read one of my books. I wonder if he knows the word Plagiarism...

Here's the picture Ian said I traced.

LOL! Kids bring us right back down! My four year old is entirely unimpressed that mommy writes books. Unless the book is about him, he thinks it's a waste of time. ;)

So true. Especially if there are no colorful pictures. You need to do a picture book so he can tell you you trace well. LOL

Tina, your doodles are great! LOL!! Aww...he thought you traced. Bless him. What a nice smile to start off the day. Enjoy those grandkids! They keep you young. I'm 44 with a 5 year old and he says the darnest things, too. Busts me up.

Smiles
Steph

That's so cute! You always know where you stand with a little one. Your drawings are very cute also. :-)
Thanks for sharing.
